University of Rochester Doctor Says We Should Continue Wearing Masks

Written by on July 7, 2020

Dr. Colleen Fogarty, the Department Chair for the University of Rochester Department of Family Medicine let WROC know that it is still very important that people keep wearing masks to reduce the COVID-19 infection rate down.

She stresses that there are confirmed scientific reports that justify the use of masks and face coverings stop the transmission of coronavirus from person to person. Combined with washing your hands, not touching your face and keeping up with social distancing guidelines, you can stay healthy and keep others from getting sick.

Dr. Fogarty also cites a few models made by epidemiologists and other experts.  These demonstrate how masks and other safety protocols eventually reduce the need for hospital beds, in turn, preventing possible deaths due to overcrowded hospitals.
