A United Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Shanghai had to turn back after the pilot discovered they did not have the necessary passport for entry into China.
Flight 198, which departed from Los Angeles International Airport at 2 p.m., turned around two hours into the flight and diverted to San Francisco.
United Airlines provided meal vouchers and compensation to the over 250 passengers on board.
After a new crew took over, the flight departed again a few hours later and ultimately landed in China approximately six hours behind schedule.
