Union Dock Workers Strike on U.S. East Coast Ports for the First Time Since 1977

For the first time since 1977 thousands of east coast dock workers walked off the job at midnight after union workers failed to reach an agreement with port owners.

Union workers are fighting for higher pay and the ban on automated cranes, gates and container moving trucks for unloading.
