Two Officers Shot In Protests For Breonna Taylor After Officers Were Not Charged In Her Death

Written by on September 24, 2020

In Louisville, Kentucky two police officers have been shot during protests for the verdict in the Breonna Taylor case. The Louisville Police Chief said the officer’s injuries are not life-threatening.

Thousands are protesting after no charges were brought on the three officers for the death of Breonna Taylor. Two of the officers face no charges. However, Brett Hankison was charged with “wanton endagerment” which is not the death of Breonna Taylor. Hankison was charged because he fired shots into a neighbor’s apartment, not for killing Ms. Taylor.

The National Guard has been deployed and a state of emergency has been declared in Louisville.

Breonna Taylor was an EMT and she was 26 years old when she was killed. Her family was awarded a $12 million settlement from the city of Louisville for her death in a civil case. The settlement also includes a series of police reforms for the Louisville Metro Police Department.
