Two Buffalo police officers have been suspended after shoving a 75 year old man causing him to fall. The incident happened shortly after the citywide curfew Thursday evening in Niagara Square. There is video of the officers shoving the unidentified man and it is graphic.
When the officers shoved the man he lost his balance and fell backwards hitting his head. He laid on the ground motionless with blood coming out of his head. There were two medics that came to his aid and helped him into the ambulance.
According to WBFO NPR, the 75 year old man is in serious but stable condition at ECMC.
Buffalo’s Mayor Byron Brown released a statement saying he was “deeply disturbed by the video”, he also said the incident was “disheartening” and that the two officers were suspended without pay.
Governor Andrew Cuomo sent out a tweet regarding the incident.
This incident is wholly unjustified and utterly disgraceful.
I've spoken with Buffalo @MayorByronBrown and we agree that the officers involved should be immediately suspended pending a formal investigation.
Police Officers must enforce — NOT ABUSE — the law. https://t.co/EYIbTlXnPt
