Trump Embraces Project 2025, Targets Federal Agency Cuts

Written by on October 3, 2025

President Donald Trump is now embracing the conservative plan he previously distanced himself from during the 2024 campaign.

He announced on Truth Social that he will meet with budget chief Russ Vought, a key architect of Project 2025, to review which Democratic-led federal agencies to cut and whether those cuts would be temporary or permanent.

This marks a reversal from last year, when Trump criticized Project 2025, a Heritage Foundation proposal to overhaul the federal government.

Democrats Joe Biden and Kamala Harris highlighted the plan as a central campaign issue, even displaying a giant replica at the DNC.
