President Trump suggested that the Signal messaging platform used by his national security team to discuss the Houthi strike may be “defective.” In defense of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and national security adviser Mike Waltz amid a Signal leak scandal, Trump criticized the encrypted service without detailing specific issues.
CIA Director John Ratcliffe, who participated in the leaked chat, testified that Signal was deemed a permissible work tool.
The leak occurred when Waltz accidentally added Atlantic editor Jeffrey Goldberg to a group chat about the U.S. attack in Yemen.
Trump also supported Waltz as calls for his resignation increased.
