President Trump has decided not to raise tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum imports to 50%, as confirmed by top trade advisor Peter Navarro.
This change came after Ontario Premier Doug Ford paused a planned 25% tax on electricity exports to the U.S. following discussions with U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. Initially, Ford had threatened retaliatory measures due to Trump’s tariffs, warning of potential economic repercussions.
After a productive conversation with Lutnick, they agreed to meet in Washington, D.C., to discuss a renewed trilateral trade agreement.
