Trump Admits Motive for Blocking Postal Funding

Written by on August 14, 2020

The US Postal Services needs millions of dollars in emergency funds to keep the mail coming.

Today the President said that he does not want to fund it because it would be used for mail-in voting.

“They don’t have the money to do the universal mail-in voting. So therefore, they can’t do it, I guess,” Trump said.

Trump was on the Fox Business Network on Thursday explained why he denied the $25 billion in emergency funding.

“Now, if we don’t make a deal, that means they don’t get the money.

That means they can’t have universal mail-in voting, they just can’t have it.”

“They just can’t have it.”

Mr. President,  Americans use the mail system to do way more than mail in a ballot. We wait for our bank cards in the mail. We send and receive packages for our small business. We send prescriptions to at-risk patients who are safer at home. And we have a good relationship with our mail carrier. We love our US Mail.

I was talking to a local mailman who said the new Post Master General has put new policies in place that slows down delivery times.

There are not enough workers in the sorting facility and hiring at USPS is frozen.

At a time when we depend on home delivery more than ever.

2020 just keeps finding new ways to surprise me.
