Trump Administration Withholds $6B in Federal School Grants
Written by Site Hub on July 2, 2025
In a surprise move, the Trump administration has frozen more than $6 billion in federal education grants a day before their expected release. Programs impacted include Title I-C, II-A, III-A, and IV, which support teacher development, English learners, and after-school programs. The Education Department said the pause is due to a review of 2025 funding in light of the new administration’s priorities. School administrators nationwide expressed alarm, warning that budget planning and teacher training could be severely disrupted. The 2026 Trump budget proposal already seeks to eliminate many of the grants now in limbo, sparking fears of long-term cuts.
