A trial date of Oct. 6 has been set for former prison guards Michael Fisher and David Walters, charged with second-degree manslaughter in the December 2024 death of Robert Brooks at Marcy Correctional Facility.
Bodycam footage shows guards beating Brooks in a medical exam room; he died the next day. They are among 10 former guards indicted—six face murder charges, three manslaughter, and one evidence tampering.
Earlier this month, ex-guard Christopher Walrath pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter and was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
