After a late-night tornado outbreak across the South on Friday, dozens of people are feared dead Saturday morning. At least 24 tornadoes were reported across five states: Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri, and Tennessee, according to the NOAA Storm Prediction Center. States of emergency have been declared as some storm warnings continue in certain areas.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear stated: “This is going to be some of the worst tornado damage that we’ve seen in a long time. We expect multiple fatalities…I pray that there will be another rescue. I pray that there will be another one or two…We believe our death toll from this event will exceed 50 Kentuckians and probably end up 70 to 100.t’s very hard, really tough, and we’re praying for each and every one of those families.”
