Today, October 22nd, on what would have been his 66th birthday, a plaque honoring the late, great Anthony “Tony” Boler was unveiled at Cobbs Hill Park. This plaque is an addition to the park’s current memorial. Back in June of 2018, the Cobbs Hill basketball courts were dedicated in “Uncle Tony’s” name, a little over a year after his unfortunate passing in May 2017.
Tony Boler was a longtime air personality on The WDKX “Quiet Storm” and co-host of the longest running and highest rated radio show, “Memory Lane” alongside good friend Andre Marcel.
The plaque reads, “Tony Boler, a beloved friend of the Rochester community, will forever be remembered as one of Rochester’s true treasures. Other than his family, Tony’s first love was basketball and his devotion for the sport revealed not only his love for the game, but his passion for people.”
Family and friends attended the unveiling and even sang Stevie Wonder’s “Happy Birthday” to the man who touched us all. R.I.P. Uncle Tony, you will forever be missed.
