Today’s Al Roker reports the weather from his “kitchen studio” at home

Written by on March 21, 2020

On Monday, NBC’s Today announced that one of its show’s members had tested positive for coronavirus. Other coworkers who worked the same third hour of the show with their infected colleague were sent home out an abundance of caution.

One of these coworkers was Al Roker; another was Craig Melvin. But just one day after his home isolation, Roker was already broadcasting the weather reports from his home in his #studiokitchen. Roker noted that he was able to sleep in for a change because he didn’t have to commute to the office. And with his usual witty banter intact, he assured the viewers that yes, he was wearing pants during his broadcast!

Anchor Savannah Guthrie announced to viewers on Monday that “Last night we learned that a colleague of ours on the third hour of Today has tested positive for COVID-19. Out of an abundance of caution, Craig and Al have taken the morning off, so we can trace their contacts, see what is going on with them, we promise to keep you posted.”

But the very next day after Guthrie made the announcement about Roker and Melvin, Guthrie also found herself in need of self-isolating at home after coming down with a “mild sore throat and runny nose.” She’ll be continuing to anchor Today from her home.
