A screening of A Minecraft Movie at Apple Cinema in Pittsford Plaza was disrupted by a group of about 15 teenagers who made a mess of the theater during a specific scene.
According to a moviegoer who shared the aftermath on Facebook, the teens were quiet until a moment featuring a “chicken jockey” — a baby zombie riding a chicken — prompted them to throw popcorn and spill drinks.
This incident reflects a wider trend fueled by TikTok, where teens mimic similar outbursts during that same scene in theaters around the world.
While some theaters have experienced vandalism and required police intervention, the situation at Pittsford Plaza did not involve law enforcement.
As a response to the growing disruptions, some theaters have started requiring teens to be accompanied by an adult.
