Tierra Whack: Tiny Desk Concert

In celebration of Black Music Month, Tiny Desk is showcasing nine concerts featuring Black women artists. One standout performance is by Tierra Whack and her band, “The Big Backs,” hailed as one of the best in Tiny Desk history. Known for her playful and energetic style, Whack’s performance included whimsical elements like a giant pencil, paper airplane tosses, and a special appearance by the Philadelphia Phillies’ mascot, the Phillie Phanatic.

Whack’s set list included fresh renditions of songs from her debut mixtape, “Whack World,” such as “Flea Market,” “Pretty Ugly,” and “Hungry Hippo,” as well as tracks from her latest release, “WORLD WIDE WHACK.” This performance was notably her first time leading a live band, yet the synergy and creativity on display were remarkable. Each band member brought their playful energy to the show, making it an unforgettable experience.
