TIAA, Wyclef Jean, and Hip-Hop Stars Launch New Track, “Paper Right,” to Spotlight Gaps in Retirement Savings and Generational Wealth

Written by on February 10, 2024

In an innovative approach to addressing the retirement savings gap, TIAA, a leader in retirement services, has collaborated with hip-hop icon Wyclef Jean and other artists, including Pusha T, Lola Brooke, Capella Grey, and Flau’jae to release a new track called “Paper Right.” This initiative aims to raise awareness among younger generations about the importance of financial planning and retirement savings. The collaboration highlights the influence of music in driving social change and the ongoing issue of retirement inequality, particularly among Black Americans. A significant portion of young adults is not engaged in employer-sponsored retirement plans, and a large percentage of Black Americans lack sufficient savings for a comfortable retirement. The song “Paper Right” serves as both a call to action and an educational tool, encouraging young people to think about their financial future early on. All proceeds from the song will be donated to First Generation Investors, an organization focused on improving financial literacy among underserved high school students. This effort is part of TIAA’s broader #RetireInequality campaign, which seeks to address and close the retirement savings gap through various initiatives and partnerships.
