Canadian singer The Weeknd has reportedly broken the record previously held by Michael Jackson for the highest-grossing tour by a Black artist.

According to Hot New Hip-Hop, The Weeknd’s After Hours Til Dawn tour, which kicked off last summer, has surpassed the revenue of Jackson’s Bad tour from 1987. The Weeknd’s tour has generated $350 million, compared to Jackson’s $311 million (after adjusting for inflation). The title had been retained by the music icon for 36 years.

Earlier this week, The Weeknd paid tribute to Jackson by performing “D.D.” from his Echoes of Silence mixtape, a track inspired by “Dirty Diana.” To date, The Weeknd’s tour has sold over two million tickets worldwide. Of this impressive figure, over $148 million has been earned from North American venues alone.
