“The Boondocks” is coming back to HBO in 2020. Aaron McGruder’s comic strip- turned TV show aired on Adult Swim in 2005 and ran for 4 years. McGruder will be the executive produce of the reboot, with Norm Aladjem, Seung Kim and Meghann Collins Robertson also working on the show.
Now, if you’ve never heard of “The Boondocks”, it’s not for the sensitive. There is no topic out of bounds with this show. Often bringing up topics that the black community does or does not discuss; involving multiple cultures and addressing stereotypes, with a sprinkle of comedy throughout the show.
But you won’t have to wait to catch up on all 55 of the previous episodes. Starting this spring you can watch those on HBO Max.
So you can rewatch you favorite classic episodes like, “Return of the King”, “A Huey Freeman Christmas” and “The Trial of Robert Kelly” and that’s just the first season.
The show will start with a 50 minute episode in the fall of next year and will get a 2 season (24 episode) commitment from HBO.
