Taraji P. Henson On Why She Took ‘Abbott Elementary’ Role

In the latest episode of Abbott Elementary, Taraji P. Henson graced our TVs in the episode titled “Mom,” in which she plays the mother of Quinta Brunson’s leading character Janine Teagues.
Before the episode aired, Henson opened up to PEOPLE about her guest role as Mama Vanetta, stating: “I actually have an affinity for teachers…It’s witty, it’s smart. I see myself in it. And I’m just proud of Quinta. I’m proud of her. I just applaud her.” Henson spoke a little about the cast and how “amazing, so giving, and sweet” they were to her that “It didn’t feel like work at all!”
