Written by on July 3, 2025

Taraji P. Henson will make her Broadway acting debut in “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone” by August Wilson, starring alongside Cedric the Entertainer. Directed by Debbie Allen, the play is set in 1911 and follows African Americans seeking identity and healing during the Great Migration. Henson will play Bertha Holly, the boarding house co-owner. The actress, who recently took a break from Hollywood due to pay disparities, says this role aligns with her mission to change lives through the arts. The production opens next spring and promises to be a powerful tribute to Wilson’s legacy.
