Talking Is Always Better Than Texting

Has texting ever blown things out of proportion or led you to misunderstand the other person?

You got to love autocorrect on cell phone devices.

A woman from Wisconsin freaked her dad out after she was responding back to him though text about her process of taking a COVID-19 test.
The woman’s dad called 911 after receiving a message that she sent saying she was being stabbed. Instead she meant to text she was being swabbed.
Her father did with any father would do hurry up and get help to protect his daughter! That’s exactly what happened because eight police officers showed up to the woman’s house.
When the woman answered the door she was confused to see all the police officers at her apartment. The police officers were kind of confused because she seemed to appear to ok.
The woman told police she didn’t realize she had a typo sent in that text message to her dad.
From a scientific perspective, communication is over 90%  nonverbal – posture, eye contact, tone of voice, loudness, etc. Since those aspects are taken away when communicating through text only, we can only assume how to fill in that 93% which can cause more issues than help. Something to consider next time you’re having a serious conversation through email or text.
