In an unexpected turn of events, a swarm of bees caused a two-hour delay at the MLB game on Tuesday between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers at Chase Field, Arizona. The incident occurred just minutes before the scheduled start when the bees settled in the netting behind home plate, prompting concerns for fan safety. The situation was handled by Matt Hilton, a beekeeper who was called away from his son’s baseball game to resolve the issue. Dressed in beekeeping gear, Hilton used a vacuum to safely remove the bees to the sound of fans chanting “MVP” and Bonnie Tyler’s “Holding Out for a Hero” playing over the loudspeaker. Following his successful intervention, Hilton was honored with throwing the ceremonial first pitch. The game eventually proceeded, extending into extra innings, and concluded with the Diamondbacks clinching a 4-3 victory in the 10th inning, thanks to Christian Walker’s two-run walk-off home run.
