After speculation that the student loan payment plan will continue at the beginning of February, it is rumored that the Biden Administration might extend the payment pause and interest waiver for most borrowers once again. This big news will aid over 42 million Americans who owe on their federal student loans. It is reported that a spokesperson for the Department of Education stated that the payments could be postponed again; “Later this week, we will be announcing whether to extend the pause further.”
Yesterday, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki stated that there has been no final decision on this matter. Many Democrats and advocates now calling for an extension due to the spread of the new omicron variant. Many are also calling the president and its administration out for failing to follow through on his big campaign promise to cancel thousands in student loans.
