State Governors React to Roe V Wade Draft

Early this week, a draft to overturn Roe v. Wade, the law that established the right to abortion nearly 50 years ago, has been leaked. According to the 98-page draft written back in February, Justice Samuel Alito said Roe was wrongly decided, saying the issue should be decided by politicians, not courts.
Many government officials reacted to the draft, including New York Governor Kathy Hochul, stating: “I refuse to let my new granddaughter have to fight for the rights that generations have fought for & won, rights that she should be guaranteed. For anyone who needs access to care, our state will welcome you with open arms. Abortion will always be safe & accessible in New York.”
