Alesha and Ricardo Chambers spent three years and nearly $1 million opening Pure Wellness Dispensary in July, only to be told weeks later it violates state law for being too close to a school due to a state measurement error.
They’re among 108 shops and 44 applicants affected. Gov. Kathy Hochul called it a “major screw-up” and supports bills to either grandfather current stores or reduce the required distance from schools from 500 to 200 feet.
