Stanley recalls millions of travel mugs
Written by Site Hub on December 14, 2024
Stanley has issued a recall of approximately 2.6 million Switchback and Trigger Action stainless steel travel mugs due to a potential burn hazard. The company reports that the lid threads can shrink when exposed to heat and torque, causing the lids to detach unexpectedly during use. This defect has resulted in 91 incidents worldwide, including 38 burn injuries, with two occurring in the U.S. and 11 requiring medical attention globally.
The recall affects double-walled mugs in various colors, including white, black, and green, available in 12 oz., 16 oz., and 20 oz. sizes with polypropylene lids. These mugs were sold nationwide at retailers like Walmart, Target, and Amazon between June 2016 and December 2024, priced from $20 to $50.
Consumers are urged to stop using the mugs immediately and contact Stanley for a free replacement lid, including shipping. For assistance, consumers can call 866-792-5445 or visit the recall website for more information and to submit a claim.
