Splash Mountain Is Getting A Much Needed Makeover

Disney has announced that its Splash Mountain ride will be reimagined as the Princess and the Frog. The film was released in 2009 and featured Disney’s first Black princess, voiced by Anika Noni Rose.
The reimagining comes after a petition collected over 21,000 signatures requesting Disney change the theme of the ride. Splash Mountain is currently based on a famously racist movie called Song of The South, made in 1946.
Anika Noni Rose says she is pleased with the outcome and release a statement on instagram, saying:
“It is really exciting to know that Princess Tiana’s presence in both Disneyland and Magic Kingdom will finally be fully realized! As passionate as I am about what we created, I know the fans are going to be over the moon. The Imagineers are giving us the Princess & The Frog Mardi Gras celebration we’ve been waiting for, and I’m here for it!”
