Spike in Lyme Disease in Ontario County

Written by on July 10, 2022

According to the Ontario Public Health Office, Ontario County is seeing a spike in Lyme Disease and has already well surpassed last year’s numbers. Public Health Director for Ontario County Mary Beer stated: “We had some really good weather to get out there and people not being careful enough and checking for ticks…You come in from a walk outside you check for them. They got to be on you for a little while and actually be on you for a little while it’s taking blood from you. The saliva of the tick gets in your bloodstream and causes Lyme disease.”
