A SpaceX Starship spacecraft exploded during its eighth test flight on Thursday, marking the second failure for the vehicle this year and disrupting air traffic.
Less than 10 minutes into the flight, the Starship experienced problems as several engines cut out, leading to a loss of attitude control and subsequent tumbling before contact was lost.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) halted flights into major Florida airports due to falling debris, affecting Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach, and Orlando until 8 p.m. ET. Departures from Fort Lauderdale and Miami were also delayed.
