Three different Sonic franchises in Ohio are recovering after the entire staff at each location quit in February.
The employees were apparently upset over their wage decrease due to new franchise owners. Their pay went from the Ohio state minimum wage of $8.55/hour to $4.00/hour plus tips.
Tips!?!?!? Do you know anyone who tips at Sonic? I sure don’t. Employees at these three locations all shared this same sentiment. One of the stores taped an expletive-laden letter to the front door of the store explaining exactly how the staff felt.
Here is the original letter. WARNING this letter contains some cursing and may not be suitable for all readers:
The entire workforce at the Sonic in Circleville, Ohio just quit en masse to protest their new management and workers least two other Sonics in the area did the same. Check out the lovely note the Circleville workers left. pic.twitter.com/onSNUMImMb

Christi Woodworth, VP of public relations at Sonic issued a statement in response to the outrage. An excerpt from that statement reads:
“No wage rates at any level decreased as a result of this transition and Carhops may continue to receive tips above their hourly wages. Additionally, with the ownership change, employees may now have their paycheck direct deposited and general managers are now eligible for a new bonus program, among other benefits.”
