Small Memorial Day Celebrations Allowed in New York State
Written by Jazzy T on May 20, 2020
For the first time in three months, New Yorkers will be allowed to celebrate a National Holiday this Memorial Day weekend.
St Patrick’s Day = Cancelled
Easter = Cancelled
Mother’s Day = Cancelled
Memorial Day = A gathering of 10 people or less should be fine
“This is an important tradition, many people lost their loved ones,” Governor Cuomo said during a coronavirus briefing. “This is important to many, many families across this state and nation. It is important to the veterans that they be recognized and I think we can do that and I think we can do it safely.”
 Vehicle parades are highly suggested! Decorate your car with flags and signs and drive by a Vets home to show your support for his/her service.
Local and State beaches will also re-open just in time for other Memorial Day celebrations that are more about the unofficial start of summer than about honoring Veterans.
Rochester Police Chief Laron Singletary announced Wednesday that he will have officers patrolling Ontario and Duran-Eastman Parks to ensure social distancing and mask mandates are being followed.
Tickets will be issued as a last resort.
What are you doing for Memorial Day?
I’m thinking about pulling into a Drive-In Movie 🙂
