Shannon Sharpe Silent Ahead of Assault Hearing

Written by on July 8, 2025

Hall of Fame NFL tight end Shannon Sharpe has yet to file a legal response to sexual assault allegations stemming from a lawsuit filed in April. With a key hearing scheduled for July 9 in Nevada, court records show no formal defense submitted. The plaintiff alleges that Sharpe engaged in a controlling, abusive relationship over nearly two years. Sharpe denies the claims, calling the lawsuit a “shakedown” and accusing attorney Tony Buzbee of orchestrating a smear campaign. He reportedly offered a $10 million settlement, which brought further scrutiny. Sharpe has temporarily stepped away from ESPN’s First Take pending the outcome.
