September is Sickle Cell Awareness Month

Written by on September 3, 2025

Each September, Sickle Cell Awareness Month shines a light on sickle cell disease—a serious, inherited blood disorder that impacts millions around the world. This month is dedicated to educating the public about the disease, its symptoms, and available treatment options.

Awareness efforts also focus on advocating for increased research, better care, and stronger support for individuals living with sickle cell disease. Blood donations and organ transplants are vital, as they play a crucial role in treatment and quality of life for many patients.

Sickle cell disease can cause severe pain, organ damage, and life-threatening complications. By spreading awareness, we can drive progress, support affected families, and improve outcomes for those living with the condition.
