Sarah Dash was a member of the iconic group Labelle, alongside Nona Hendryx and Patti Labelle. Labelle was the first rock group to play the Metropolitan Opera House, as well as the first Black vocal group to be on the cover of Rolling Stone. Labelle is best known for the original 1974 rendition of “Lady Marmalade.” Unfortunately yesterday, Sarah Dash passed away at age 76.

Patti Labelle spoke on the passing of Sarah Dash’s death, stating: “We were just on stage together on Saturday and it was such a powerful and special moment. Sarah Dash was an awesomely talented, beautiful, and loving soul who blessed my life and the lives of so many others in more ways than I can say. And I could always count on her to have my back! That’s who Sarah was…a loyal friend and a voice for those who didn’t have one.”
