CDL ‘S’ License Information For School Bus Drivers

Governor Hochul announced the state came up with a plan to address the crisis across the state of the bus driver shortage. The Governor announced the New York State DMV will be enhancing and expediting the process for CDL completion. The process will remove the 14-day waiting period between the permit test and the road test.
New York State is doing a massive outreach to 550,000 CDL license holders across the state. If you have a CDL driver’s license you can apply for the ‘S’ endorsement to drive school busses. This includes the written test for a permit and then the road test on a school bus.
