Sam Wrench, director of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, has been chosen to direct the upcoming remake of The Bodyguard for Warner Bros., according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The reimagining of the 1992 classic starring Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner is still in early stages, with casting yet to be announced.

Jonathan Abrams is writing the new script, following earlier drafts by Matthew López.

Wrench’s recent success with the record-breaking Eras Tour concert film, which earned over $250 million globally, adds major momentum to the remake.

The original Bodyguard was a massive hit, grossing $411 million worldwide and producing one of the most iconic soundtracks of all time.
