RTS plans to completely eliminate its On Demand bus service across Monroe County in 2027 due to high operating costs and low ridership.

Service will end in Brockport, Irondequoit, Pittsford, and Webster on January 22, followed by Greece, Henrietta, and Lexington Avenue on April 2.

New fixed bus routes will launch April 5 to maintain access to jobs, healthcare, schools, and other destinations.

RTS says On Demand accounts for less than 3% of ridership but consumes 14% of its budget, costing 6.5 times more per passenger than traditional bus service.

RTS set to fully end On Demand services next year
