Rochester is known for a lot of things like the Lilac Festival, Genesee Brewery, and Eastman School of Music. But, did you know Rochester is also known for it’s water?

I know you might think yeah right! However, back in 2013 Rochester was ranked he best tasting water in the state. For the 20th straight year Rochester wins another water quality award.

The water is supplied to the city via the Hemlock Filtration Plant. The filtration plant has met or exceeded all federal and state quality standards is 2021. That earned another award from the American Water Works Association which is in partnership with the EPA.

Rochester’s 2021 Water Quality Report show’s there is no lead, radium, or any other toxic chemicals. The water we drink comes from Hemlock and Canadice Lakes and is then sent to the filtration plant.

The report also shows the city’s water has an optimal pH level. For more information about the city’s water quality click here.
