Office of Violence Prevention back-to-school event
The City of Rochester’s Office of Violence Prevention is giving out free school supplies at a community event on Wednesday at the Rochester Community Sports Complex on Oak Street. People at the event can also learn about job training, youth programs, meditation, conflict resolution, emotional wellness, and more. There will also be haircuts, food, and a sneaker giveaway presented by Bruce Blue. It runs from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Office of Violence Prevention serves as a central hub for the city’s initiatives to reduce violence.
Boys & Girls Club of Rochester backpack giveaway
The Boys & Girls Club of Rochester is giving away backpacks and other school supplies to its members on Wednesday ahead of the start of the new school year. The event runs from 2 to 5:30 p.m. at the club’s headquarters on Genesee Street. Dr. Bettina Love, a New York Times bestselling author and Edison Tech graduate, will speak at the event.
