Rochester Showed Out for the 2026 Gus Macker Invitational!

WDKX was proud to be a sponsor of the 2026 Gus Macker Invitational right here in the Flower City, alongside the YMCA of Greater Rochester and several other community partners who made this event possible. The YMCA of Greater Rochester brought Gus Macker back to Rochester for the first time since 2019, hosting the tournament at ESL Ballpark, home of our Rochester Red Wings, and the energy was everything. Hoops all weekend, families pulling up, and the city doing what it does best!
The Gus Macker 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament was born in 1974 when Scott McNeal, better known by his nickname “Gus Macker”, gathered 18 friends on his parents’ driveway in Lowell, Michigan for a little friendly competition. What started as a backyard bet turned into something much bigger. By 1987, the McNeals had taken the tournament on the road as the “Gus Macker All-World Tour,” eventually growing it into a nationwide phenomenon that brings people of all ages and backgrounds together through a shared love of basketball. Fast forward to today, and Gus Macker is one of the most recognized 3-on-3 tournaments in the country, and Rochester just got a taste of it.
Today will mark the final buzzer on a weekend that reminded us why community events like this matter. From the first game to the last bucket, the spirit on those courts was electric, with competitors bringing heat, fans showing love, and Rochester proving once again that we’ve got culture, we’ve got heart, and we’ve got game. Shoutout to every team, every volunteer, and every face in the crowd who made today special. WDKX is always where the community is — and the community was exactly where it needed to be.
