Rochester Man Faces Charges After 11-Year-Old Accidentally Shoots Himself

A Rochester man has been arrested and charged after an 11-year-old boy accidentally shot himself while handling a family member’s gun.

Date: February 14
Location: Lorimer Street, Rochester
Victim: 11-year-old boy (hospitalized after self-inflicted gunshot)
Suspect: Maximus Floyd, 20 (a family member temporarily living at the home)
Charges & Investigation
Officers recovered a revolver at the scene.
Floyd did not have an NYS pistol permit and was not eligible to own a firearm.
Charges:
Criminal possession of a firearm
Endangering the welfare of a child
Floyd was arrested on Tuesday and booked into the Monroe County Jail. He is scheduled for arraignment on Wednesday.
