Rochester Children Make Valentine’s for Girls in India
Written by Site Hub on February 4, 2020
Children at Rochester Christian School have an extraordinary Valentine’s project they are working on. They are making Valentine’s Day cards for little girls in India. The idea to give the cards to girls in India came from a board member of the school who recently visited India.
The board member visited the Girls Home of Pune, India, which is home to several girls who are orphaned. These girls are at risk for crime, exploitation, and hunger, among other things.
The Valentines will be collected from the school, then mailed and dropped off at the home sometime later this month. In exchange for the Valentine cards, the students will receive pictures of the girls who receive their Valentines.
The organizers of the project say that not only is this a perfect opportunity for Rochester kids to learn about helping others out and spreading love to those who are less fortunate than them, but in return, they also get to see the faces of the kids they’re giving to and be able to make that connection.
The Girls Home of Pune is a branch of another group called India Connection, which is a steady growing missions organization that has roots in Rochester.
