Rochester Area Veterans Day Events & Discounts

Veterans Day is Tuesday, and several organizations and businesses are hosting events and offering up discounts for past and present service members. The City of Rochester Public Market will be open from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the market’s token center for SNAP recipients will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Rochester City Hall, city R-centers and all other administrative offices will be closed. Refuse and recycling in the city will remain on schedule. The 311 Call Center will remain open for its normal hours from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Brighton Veterans Day ceremony (Tuesday)
The Town of Brighton is honoring veterans with a ceremony on Tuesday at Veterans Memorial in Buckland Park on Westfall Road. It starts at 2 p.m. The ceremony will honor Gary Ginsburg of the David J. Kauffman Post 41 of the Jewish War Veterans. The Buffalo Soldiers will post colors. It’s open to all members of the public.
Free chicken and biscuit dinner for veterans (Wednesday)
Rochester Elks Lodge #24 will be hosting a “Veterans Appreciation Dinner” Wednesday from 4 – 7 p.m. Veterans will get a free chicken and biscuit dinner. Non-veterans are also open to get a dinner for $10. People can dine-in at the lodge, or do curbside pickup. Pre-orders are available by calling 585-334-1900 after 3 p.m.
Field of Honor at the Saint Pius Tenth School
The St. Pius Tenth School on Chili Avenue planted 150 American flags on Monday at the school grounds to honor those who have served. “Service and sacrifice” is the theme of this year’s Field of Honor. The flags will be on display through Friday, Nov. 14. People can choose to sponsor a flag in honor of a particular veteran.
Discounts
Starbucks Veterans, service members and military spouses will receive a free tall 12-ounce brewed coffee, hot or iced, at participating locations in the U.S.
Applebee’s All active duty military, veterans, reserves and National Guard members who dine in at any Applebee’s location will receive a complimentary full-size entree from an exclusive Veterans Day menu. This marks the 18th year of the tradition. The menu includes:
- 6-ounce Top Sirloin
- Classic Bacon Cheeseburger
- Chicken Tenders Platter
- Double Crunch Shrimp
- Fiesta Lime Chicken
- Oriental Chicken Salad
- Three-Cheese Chicken Penne
Guests will also receive a $5 bounce back card to redeem for dine-in, to-go or delivery within a three-week redemption window.
Chipotle From 4 to 8 p.m., guests with a valid military ID who order an entree in-restaurant will receive a second entree for free. The promotion applies to bowls, burritos, salads and taco entrees.
Texas Roadhouse The American steakhouse chain will continue its annual tradition of treating veterans and active U.S. military members to a free meal. Vouchers will be distributed Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at locations nationwide. Proof of service is required. Acceptable forms include a military or VA card or discharge papers. Vouchers can be redeemed through May 31, 2026, for one of 10 entrees, including a 6-ounce sirloin and two made-from-scratch sides plus a choice of any Coca-Cola product, sweet tea/iced tea or coffee. Offers may vary by location.
Cracker Barrel A complimentary Sunrise Pancake Special will be offered at every Cracker Barrel location to all veterans and active-duty military dining in. Proof of military service required. Limit one per order.
Batavia Downs complimentary meal The casino is offering several free meals for veterans and active duty members. Valid military ID must be presented. Options include:
- 10 boneless wings tossed in your choice of sauce. Served with bleu cheese and fries.
- Rush Burger — 6-ounce beef patty, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, chopped onion, pickles and secret sauce on a Kaiser roll. Served with fries.
- Bruschetta Chicken Sandwich — Grilled chicken breast, bruschetta mix, provolone cheese and balsamic glaze on a Kaiser roll. Served with fries.
- Soup and salad bar (dine-in only)
- 12-ounce domestic draft beer or soda
