Rochester Area Schools Adjust Schedules for Extreme Heatwave

With temperatures forecasted to reach near 100°F, several Rochester-area school districts are implementing early dismissals and closures next week. Districts including Rochester CSD, Webster, Pittsford, Brockport, Lyons, and Wayne CSD announced schedule changes for June 23–25. Adjustments include early dismissals, event cancellations, and cooling accommodations like overnight air conditioning and added fans. Regents exams and final assessments will proceed as scheduled. While some schools will remain open with modifications, others like Lyons Elementary will close entirely for multiple days. Districts continue to monitor the situation to ensure student safety.
