ROC Seeds To Offer Job Training For At-Risk Youth To Help Stop Violence

Monroe County, RochesterWorks! and the Chamber of Commerce are hoping a new program will help stop the violence in Rochester.  ROC Seeds will take $450,000 in state funding to offer resources like job training and transportation for at-risk youth.  It will also help participants find employment, subsidizing their pay at $15 an hour for the first 10 weeks. Then, the hope is the employer will offer them full-time work. Of the more than 40 homicides recorded in the city this year, 16 of the victims were younger than 25 and eight were teenagers.
