Roc NORML Pushes For Marijuana Legalization

Written by on March 30, 2019

Roc NORML, the Rochester chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, is hopeful that recreational marijuana usage will be legal in New York state in 2019.

Furthermore, Roc NORML is calling for members of the Rochester Police Department to stop arresting people for minor marijuana related offenses. Although the group has the support of the Rochester City Council, the topic still remains up in the air, as many expect it to be all together excluded from the state budget.

Rochester City Council Member Mitch Gruber told 13WHAM News, “What we’re asking for now as the negotiations are happening that we make sure it’s done right. That we make sure this is something that goes back to impacting the cities that were most disproportionately impacted by the war on drugs.”

SN: This story came out on Thursday, March 28, 2019; aka National Weed Appreciation Day… oh, the irony.
