RIT Student files lawsuit after being forced off campus during outbreak

Taking a college course online may help you get a degree, but living and learning on a college campus is an experience that will never be duplicated in a virtual, contactless world.

That’s why Nick from Massachusetts wants a refund for Spring 2020!

The Rochester Institute of Technology student is seeking tuition and fee reimbursement from the university after students were forced to leave campus following the outbreak of COVID-19.

The lawsuit mentions the lack of access to campus facilities, student activities and other services that are apart of campus life that he already paid for.

The suit also referenced $14 Billion made available to Universities by the CARES Act.

I think it’s only fair that Nick and other college students get a piece of that money, don’t you?

I spoke to an administrator at the University of Rochester about this and she confirmed that students in the UR study abroad program were offered partial refunds and a free ticket home.
(Although many kids reportedly did not want to leave.)
