Some Rochester area families were able to celebrate Christmas a little early yesterday, when local restaurant owners showed up with gifts.
The “adopt a family” initiative started by the Mueller Group delivers presents to families in need.
The Muellers own the restaurants Label 7 and Native and they do this every year.
Normally they have Christmas trees with families for customers to “adopt” in the restaurant, but this year they had to turn to social media and things kind of went viral.
“We did a social media post, anyone that’s interested in supporting families this year for Christmas please reach out,” Lauren said.
Ross and Lauren Mueller delivered presents to 12 families this year, ending their trip at the Vargas household where Cairo Vargas and his brothers received early Christmas gifts.
The boy’s mother says she feels really special to be a part of the program:
“I appreciate it right now, with the pandemic it’s hard for a lot of families. It has no discrimination, black, white, Puerto Rican, old, young and I’m just very grateful,” Moira said. “It means the world to me, it brings tears to my eyes, like I said the world could use more people like them and I’m just so grateful to see my kids smile.”
