‘Respect’ Release Date Pushed Back Again

Written by on October 29, 2020

The Aretha Franklin biopic starring Jennifer Hudson was originally supposed to be released this August, then got pushed back to Christmas.

It’s now being pushed back for a third time. MGM has announced that Respect won’t be released until August 2021.

The main reason for the postponement is the coronavirus pandemic. All the theaters are closed and this has been the course of action that many other film studios have had to take as well.

Some production houses have decided to shift to streaming services, while others have cancelled they’re releases all together.

If everything goes according to plan, the movie will premiere close to the three year anniversary of Franklin’s passing.
